Danis run SpecimenWerk project as an initiative and art collaboration project under Sciencewerk Studio. Obsessed with alien looking succulent back in 2016, he started his first science-fiction themed art planter series working together with local artist in 2017. His role is to direct the overall design process, ideation, curate, plant staging and styling, as well as connecting ceramic artist to private collectors. He held the very first succulent botanical staging exhibition “Evolve” featuring curated ceramic art from Indonesia, Japan, Thailand.

Panji joined SpecimenLab in 2018. He studied ceramic art at Ceramics Craft Studio at the Faculty of Fine Art and Design at ITB, Indonesia. He finished his studies in 2007 and is currently finishing his master’s degree in the Faculty of Fine Art and design. The intimacy with ceramic medium is the most important thing in his artworks, the fragile character and the presence of ceramic as a part of material culture become a parameter in choosing and using the medium. His work featured at Jogja Art Fair (Spacing Contemporary), Edwin’s Gallery, IDEA 2005, among others.

Marco is a budding artist joined SpecimenLab in early 2020. He studied pottery and ceramic under Khang Chia Huie, Indonesia in 2017 and still exploring the art of ceramic until today. Other than ceramic, he also run transportation, F&B business , and photography studio. His artwork signature took in a balance in between machine inspired, nature, and imperfection. The very first series launched were SpecimenLab signature art planter Chassis series with extended masterpiece set of Bloom pieces that inspired from flower petal.

Geoffrey Tjakra, born in 24 June 1973 in Jakarta, studied Sculpture for his Bachelor in Fine Arts degree at the Mason Gross School of Arts, New Jersey, USA under Prof. Gary Kuehn. In 2007, he completed his Masters degree in Ceramics at California State University, USA, under Prof. Luis Bermudez. In addition to ceramics, he also works with other media such as painting and jewelry. A passionate artists, Geoffrey Tjakra is equally dedicated in sharing his knowledge in many workshops and classes. His video “Playing with Clay: Face Pots” is in the collection of the American Ceramic Society, Design Chapter, Southern California. His work “Geo Bird” has also appeared in 500 Animals in Clay, published by Lark Books. He has exhibited his works in Indonesia, China, and the USA.
